Wallets will inevitably get damaged after years of use, and the zippers in particular need to be replaced most frequently.

What needs to be repaired this time is the cowhide long clip and the new wallet.

The repair this time is Hallelujah's zippered leather long clip with ring opening and closing, which has been cherished and used by customers for many years. Since it is quite obviously worn, we took a photo side by side with the new wallet to commemorate it. This kind of transparent natural cowhide can show such a deep color, which is indeed a unique feature of genuine leather products. Without further ado, let’s start the replacement operation now.

The first step is to disassemble the wallet

We will cut off the section where the zipper and wallet body are sewn together. If you pull hard or cut roughly, you may cause damage to the leather part, so you need to be very careful.

Remove the zipper

After cutting the thread and removing the leather on the surface, the interior will be exposed. There are still parts called core materials and traces of glue inside, and we will remove the original zipper.

Use care cream to care for leather

Apply maintenance oil

The outer layer of leather that has been removed will show different aging effects in the same piece of leather due to usage patterns and habits, presenting a unique style. Lay it flat to perform maintenance work such as caring for scratches, and use maintenance cream for maintenance. In this way, even if parts such as zippers are damaged, the leather can basically be used continuously.

Sewing techniques for leather experts

When the maintenance work on the leather is completed, the next step is to sew on the new zipper. Unlike when making a new product, once it has been sewn once, the pinholes will be there, so if there is an error in the stitching position, the pinholes will be exposed, making the finished product look less refined. It really takes a lot of skill to stitch with experience without deviating from the original needle holes!

Align the stitched needle holes and sew stitch by stitch, finishing quickly and beautifully.
