What is the edge treatment of a wallet? Super important work and completion. 【The job of a leather craftsman】
Hello everyone, I am a staff member of Hallelujah Leather Workshop.
Following the last time, this time we will once again introduce some of the work of the leather craftsmen of the Hallelujah workshop. This time we introduce the "wallet edge treatment" that has a significant impact on the finish of leather products.
First, what is leather edge treatment?
Leather edge treatments are the edges of a leather product, those cut portions that have not been further processed.
Every part of leather products has edges that need to be treated. These places are important parts that affect the overall finish and texture.
Since it is a direct cut, if not handled properly, the edges will appear rough and be more susceptible to deterioration. If these parts can be handled well, it will not only look beautiful, but also extend its service life.
For the edges of leather, there is a processing method called "Herikaesi" in Japanese, which is to thin the leather on the edges, fold it inward and sew it. In this case, the edges of the leather are not sanded or painted. Depending on the leather material and design used, treatments will vary. About 「ヘリ回し(Herikaesi)", we will introduce it in detail in future articles.
